Free parking will be introduced for shoppers in Castlebar from tomorrow morning.

Customers can park free of charge in the council-run carparks - at Market Square, Castle Street, Spencer Street and Pavilion Road - from 8.30 am to 12 mid-day every day from tomorrow until Christmas Eve.

The initiative was agreed by councillors at a recent meeting of Castlebar Municipal District, to support traders in the run-up to Christmas, and has been welcomed by Castlebar Chamber of Commerce.

The free parking applies to the four car parks named - while parking charges on the streets at in the Dunnes Stores carpark remain unchanged.
