There is a major power outage across Roscommon this afternoon.

ESB crews have been mobilised to restore power to over 12,000 customers in Roscommon town, Ballygar and Glenamaddy.

A spokesperson for the ESB says a fault fed through the network in Athlone has caused the outage.

The areas affected include Roscommon town, Ballygar and Glenamaddy.
