Ireland missed out at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles last night.

There was no luck for Castlebar author Sally Rooney’s  - Normal People TV series, which was nominated in four categories.

Kildare's Paul Mescal lost out to Mark Ruffalo for the award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series.

Sally herself had been nominated in the category Outstanding writing for a limited series.
