
Over 1,600 students in Mayo are among some 60,000 who received their Leaving Cert results today - in a year like no other, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The traditional State exams in June were cancelled this year, and instead teachers were asked to submit calculated grades for their students.
The grades this year are, on average, 4.4% higher than last year.
Siobhan Towey, Principal at Moyne College in Ballina, told Midwest News that their results this year were up slightly on other years - in line with the national trend - but in exceptional circumstances.
The first round of CAO offers will be made on Friday.
