Gardai in Ballina are investigating two break-ins which occurred over the weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the Costcutter supermarket on the Killala Road in Ballina was broken into.

Gardai say nothing was taken, but are appealing for anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area to come forward.

A burglary was also reported at a construction site in the Cluain na Rí area of Ardnaree.

The incident occurred sometime between Friday night and this morning, and it's understood a quantity of copper was stolen.

Ballina Gardai are appealing for witnesses to either incident to contact them at 096 - 20560.
