A young East Mayo man is being ordained to the priesthood in Knock this afternoon.

Shane Costello from Taugheen, Claremorris is being ordained at a ceremony getting underway at 3pm in Knock Basilica.

The archbishop of Tuam Dr. Michael Neary will deliver the homily at today's mass.

Also in attendance at today's Mass will be Shane's parents and family, his neighbours, former teachers, the priests and religious of the Archdiocese of Tuam, the President, rectors, and the staff and student body from St Patrick's College Maynooth, where Shane studied for the priesthood.
