A two vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the N17 between Milltown and Ballindine earlier this afternoon.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the incident.

Midwest News understands that one vehicle rear-ended the other shortly before 3 o'clock.

It's understood they both managed to pull in off the road to avoid blocking the route.

The road remains open and motorists in the area are urged to be cautious on approach.

There are no injuries to report at this time.
