At least 195,000 homes and businesses are without power this morning due to Storm Ellen.

The majority of those affected are in Cork, with power outages also experienced in Tipperary, Westmeath, Longford and Limerick.

Following a very stormy night, care is advised on all routes this morning across the country as wind-blown debris is likely.

Wind warnings remain in place for the entire country for Storm Ellen until 8am this morning. 

For the most part Mayo appears to have escaped the worst with no power outages reported across the county.

There was an incident this morning on the Ballina to Foxford road close to Mount Falcon between a truck and a cow.

Gardai are at the scene and the road remains open to traffic but motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area.

Almost 400 ESB customers are without power in the Castlerea area this morning and over 700 customers without power in the Gurteen area of Sligo.

There is also power outages in the Headford, Claregalway and Salthill areas of Galway this morning.

ESB crews are now working to repair the faults.

Fallen trees are reported on routes in the Clarinbridge and Athenry areas and in Galway city, there is excess surface water on the Monivea Rd and on Fairgreen Road.

There is a tree down on the Collooney/Ballintogher Rd (R290) between Collooney and Ballygawley.

Caution is advised on the N4 Inner Relief Road in Sligo Town as fencing and cones have blown onto the road.

There have been a number of trees down in the Roscommon Town area, including on the N63 between Roscommon and Lanesborough, and the N61 between Roscommon and Knockroghery.
