The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet later today to discuss what further measures are needed to control the spread of Covid-19.

The Cabinet will then meet tomorrow to discuss any recommendations made by NPHET.

It's after a further spike was recorded over the weekend, with 200 cases on Saturday and 66 yesterday - including new cases in Roscommon and Sligo.

New cases have emerged across Connacht in recent days, with Mayo recording one new case on Friday bringing the total in theĀ  county to 585.

6 new cases were reported in Galway on Friday, bringing the confirmed cases to 507.

After weeks of no new cases, three have been confirmed in Roscommon over the past 10 days, with 349 confirmed cases.

Sligo is now at 155 confirmed cases of the virus, with Leitrim unchanged on 85.

There was outrage yesterday over a video at a bar in Dublin city centre appearing to show people ignoring public health advice.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn last night said some people are socialising "recklessly" and undermining the efforts of the majority of people who are following public health advice, and he said that "cannot continue".

Dr Glynn said "the pandemic isn't over just because we're tired of living with it".
