Gardaí in Sligo are carrying out an investigation into an attempted robbery of a bookmaker shop in Sligo Town yesterday evening

A male entered the premises at approximately  7pm yesterday evening and attempted to gain access to money. He is described as being possibly in his 30s of thin build, wearing a dark green rain coat and he has a red or ginger goatee beard.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Sligo Garda Station.
