The N59 Ballina to Sligo road has reopened, following major forest fires yesterday evening.
The road was closed for a number of hours due to smoke from the fire crossing the roadway near Culleens.
Residents in Culleens were advised to close their windows, because of the extent of the smoke.
A spokesperson for the Sligo FIre Service has confirmed that the road reopened last night, but motorists should take extra caution this morning due to heavy smoke in the area.
7 units of the fire service from Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and Donegal were called out to assist fighting two fires - at Culleens and at Dromore West.
