Two Government schemes have been announced to support people and businesses affected by flooding.
A Humanitarian Assistance scheme for householders, and a Humanitarian Support Scheme for small businesses, have been enacted by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
The small business and clubs scheme will be administered by the Irish Red Cross and provides for a maximum of €20,000 in support.
Support for householders will be assessed by the relevant Department's Community Welfare Staff, who are engaging with local authorities to determine the level of service required.
Independent TD for Galway East Sean Canney has welcomed the support for flood victims who are uninsured against flood damage.
