Irish conductor Eímear Noone is to become the first woman to conduct the orchestra at this year's Academy Awards.

The Galway native will conduct excerpts from the five nominated scores in Los Angeles next month.

She's composed extensively for film and video games, and divides her time between Dublin and California.
