€24,000 has been provided for upgrading a carpark in Ballintubber adjacent to the community centre and new playground.

Fine Gael Councillor Donna Sheridan confirmed today that the money would be provided for the carpark as part of a wider scheme of works in the west Mayo village.

It follows the allocation of €2,677,352 for the Ballintubber Abbey Cultural and Visitor Centre and €74,984 which was allocated to the development of the community playground.

Councillor Sheridan  says she will make the project a priority with Mayo County Council in the New Year.
