Gardai in Castlerea are investigating two burglaries in the town overnight.

A business premises at The Square was broken into at about 1am this morning, and a sum of money was taken which was later recovered.

A house on St Patrick Street was also broken into.

Gardai arrested a suspect a short time later, and he's being detained at Castlerea Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardai are asking any witnesses, or anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the town centre between 1am and 3.30 this morning, to contact them at 094 - 96 21630.
