The Minister for Rural & Community Development Michael Ring officially opened the Belcarra Community Playground and Riverside Walk yesterday (Friday).

Last year, Minister Ring allocated Clár funding of €50,000 for the construction of Belcarra Playground, while Mayo County Council and the local community contributed a further €30,000.

Meanwhile, €5,300 was allocated from the Community Enhancement Programme to develop the Riverside Walk and Biodiversity Trail, which Minister Ring says is now a valuable natural amenity for the public.

He says the new playground and Riverside Walk will bring significant benefits to the local community and visitors to the area.
