There is welcome news today for the community of Kilmurray, located between Crossmolina and Keenagh, who for years have sought a new group water scheme.

Funding announced earlier this month by government for rural water schemes, includes funding for the Kilmurray group scheme, a scheme that had until now been too costly to deliver per household, because of the local terrain and the dispersed population.

There are approx 80 households on this scheme.

Fine Gael Senator Michelle Mulherin told Midwest News today that she has now secured confirmation from Minister  Eoin Murphy that the Kilmurray group scheme will now go ahead, at a total estimated cost of 754,000 euro.
