A community garda has recently been appointed in the Castlebar area. Garda Michael Toland is part of the garda community policing unit, attached to Castlebar Garda Station, and he is keen to let the general public, businesses and communities know that he is available to listen to their concerns and will work hard to resolve problems.

Garda Toland is visiting businesses, community groups and local schools over the next number of weeks, to introduce himself and his role to the people of the area.

Speaking to Midwest News today Garda Toland says he is always available for a cup of tea or a chat with anyone or group that may want to talk to a local garda.
