
Five Musical societies in the West have been nominated in this year’s AIMS awards – the annual awards of the Association of Irish Musical Societies.
Ballinrobe Musical Society has been nominated for Best Technical award for their production of My Fair Lady – this covers lighting, sets and sound
Castlerea Musical Society, who staged Titanic the Musical last month, was nominated for Best House Management,
Niall Heaney from Castlerea, who directed Titanic in his hometown, has also been nominated for Best Director for Ragtime the Musical, staged by Bravo Theatre Group in Loughrea,
Bravo was also nominated for Best Musical Director for Shane Farrell, Best Female Singer for Sarah Corcoran and Best Chorus,
Lucia Evans of Twin Productions, Galway was nominated for Best Comedienne for her role in Sister Act,
And Boyle Musical Society was nominated for Best Visual Award – which incorporates costumes, props, hair and make-up – following their production of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
The AIMS winners will be announced on Sat 16th June in Killarney.
