A Fianna Fail Councillor is calling for urgent action to address parking at Scoil Phadraig National School in Westport, amid concerns for the safety of children attending the school.

Councillor Brendan Mulroy says cars are pulling up each side of the road on footpaths, when dropping and collecting their children, and says it’s extremely dangerous.

He raised the matter at yesterday’s monthly meeting of the West Municipal District which was held in Ionad Deirbhle, Aughleam.

Cllr. Mulroy says a turnaround area should be installed at the school and is calling for a traffic management plan to be put in place.
