The Bangor to Belmullet road has reopened to traffic this afternoon following a serious road collision yesterday.

A man in his 40’s remains in a critical condition following the crash.

He was airlifted to hospital after the van he was driving was in collision with a car at Muinhin Bridge shortly after 3pm yesterday.

The occupants of the car – three women and a baby – were also taken to hospital.

Gardai say the road has now reopened following forensic examination.
