
Three Mayo food businesses were among the winners today at the Georgina Campbell Irish Breakfast Awards 2018, in association with Fáilte Ireland.
Two castles on the Wild Atlantic Way won gold in the top tier categories – Ashford Castle in Cong won the award for 5-star hotel while Gregan’s Castle Hotel in Ballyvaughan, Co Clare won the award in the four-star category.
The Irish Breakfast Awards were presented in each of the Fáilte Ireland accommodation categories, with other categories including best brunch and best breakfast foods.
Kelly’s of Newport Artisan Butchers won the award in the meats category, while in the dairy section, the winner was Cuinneog Irish Farmhouse Country Butter and Natural Buttermilk, based in Ballina.
Georgina Campbell said the main aim of the Irish Breakfast Awards was to link the best Irish food producers with those who prepare and serve food to the public.
