The search is continuing for a new permanent base for the Order of Malta in Castlebar.

The organisation has been based at a headquarters on Pavilion Road since the late 1980’s but the building is subsiding, and is no longer insurable.

The Order of Malta unit is currently based in a temporary location provided by St Vincent de Paul but is seeking a new home for its ambulances and up to 40 volunteers.

Members recently addressed the Castlebar Municipal District of Mayo Co Co to appeal for their help in finding a new headquarters, but no progress has yet been made on the issue.
