A Memorial Cycle to honour the four members of the Rescue 116 tragedy off the Mayo coast last year will take place in March from Dublin to Blacksod.

“Miles in the Memory” is an initiative organised by members of the Ballyglass Coastguard Unit, An Garda Siochana and Belmullet Cycling Club.

Organisers say the event will also remember Caitriona Lucas,a Coastguard volunteer who lost her life off Kilkee in Sept 2016, and all who were lost off our coast.

The cycle will depart from Dublin airport on Saturday March 10th at 8 am and is expected to arrive in to Blacksod on Sunday evening March 11th at around 6.30pm.

There will be a launch night on Friday February 23rd in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel Belmullet at 8pm.
