Homecare Medical Supplies in Ballyhaunis will be announcing redundancies in the coming days.
This follows on from a decision handed down in the Commercial Court this afternoon, in the HSE case to lift an automatic suspension which prevented them awarding Freightspeed with the bridging contract for the national distribution of continence products.
In a statement to Midwest News, Homecare Medical Supplies say they’re disappointed at this judgement, which means they will cease operations of their current continence contracts when they terminate this Wednesday – 31st January.
These contracts constituted a large proportion of the company’s business, and Homecare Medical management will now engage with staff to manage the inevitable redundancies that will ensue, while making every effort to secure the future of its remaining business.
The company says their efforts over the coming days will be concentrated on making the necessary transition, and assisting staff in the difficult situation they now face.
Homecare Medical Supplies was established in Ballyhaunis 25 years ago, and sells and distributes medical equipment and consumables to the retail sector, nursing homes, the HSE, GPs and pharmacies.
