The rental website says the number of guests grew by 63 per cent to 1.2 million between November 2016 and November 2017.
186,000 visitors used Airbnb accommodation in the West over the past year – which is a 73% increase on the previous year.
There are 3,600 active listings between counties Galway, Mayo and Roscommon, with a typical host earning 3,400 euro last year for sharing their home.
Hosts in Galway welcomed 20,000 guests during the Summer racing festival last year, earning a total of 1.6 million euro during the festival.
