Work will get underway next Monday on replacing old water mains on the Tooreen Road, Ballyhaunis.

Irish Water and Mayo Co Co will replace 1.2 kilometres of problematic water mains on the Tooreen Road, and will replace a number of old damaged service connections into customers’ properties.

The project is expected to take about 16 weeks, and Irish Water says it will deliver significant improvements to customers who’ve been affected by disruptions to their water supply due to leakage along the pipe.

The work will be carried out in short sections, to minimise impact on customers.

Irish Water says there may be some short-term water shut offs, but customers will be given at least 48 hours prior notice of any planned water shut offs.

Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works.
