A public demonstration is planned for Saturday next ( Jan 27th)  in Ballina as part of the community campaign to retain Ardnaree Post Office.

It’s being described as a demonstration of solidarity that will send a clear message to An Post that the community is united in its stand against any attempt to close Ardnaree post Office.

It will get underway at 2pm from the Humbert Monument.

The Cathaoirleach of Ballina Municipal District Annie Mae Reape told Midwest News  last week that the local community is letting An Post know in large numbers  that they want the post office to remain open.

An Post is at present undertaking a public consultation on how it can best provide post office services in the area, as the postmaster in Ardnaree is retiring.

Everyone is urged to make their views known and to come out to support next Saturday’s march.
