Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a collision in Charlestown on Saturday evening, in which en elderly pedestrian was seriously injured.

The collision occurred on the old N5 about two kms from Charlestown at approximately 6.45 on Saturday evening when the man in his late 80’s was struck by a car.

He was removed by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital, where he’s in a serious condition.
