A Sligo man has today collected a cheque for half a million euro - six weeks after he won on the National Lottery’s Daily Million Draw.
The lucky farmer, who won the half a million euro top prize on Monday 27th November, bought his winning Quick Pick ticket earlier that day at McTiernan’s Daybreak Filling Station in Ballygawley.
While he realised he was the winner the day after the draw, he said he wanted to take his time to decide what he would spend his winnings on, before collecting the money.
The winner said he waited until the kerfuffle of Christmas was over before travelling to Dublin to collect the prize.
