An Post has opened a public consultation process, in relation to the future of Ardnaree Post Office in Ballina.

The current postmaster is retiring in March, which has led to concerns about the future of the postal service, which is currently provided at a shop in Ardnaree.

People are invited to make submissions before the 26th January, and An Post will then consider whether or not to close the post office permanently, or readvertise the contract.

Ballina-based Senator Michelle Mulherin says a public meeting on the future of Ardnaree Post Office is being planned for next Friday night – in the meantime, she’s encouraging people to write letters of support or sign the in-store petition, to ensure the post office remains in Ardnaree…
