Nephin – Ireland’s highest stand-alone mountain – will be featured this evening on RTE’s Nationwide programme.

At 806 metres in height, Nephin is not as well known nationally and internationally as Croagh Patrick, but is the highest standalone mountain in the country.

Local mountain guide and tour guide Derek Davidson will share his knowledge of Nephin and the surrounding area on this evening’s programme, which is broadcast at 7pm.

The programme was filmed with presenter Maria Mullarkey, a native of Bangor Erris and a film crew last month when weather conditions presented such a challenge on the peak that it took two attempts to complete the climb.
