An Post says they will shortly undertake a public consultation process to help it make a decision as to how it can provide the best post office services in the Ardnaree area of Ballina.

They confirmed this position in a response to local Fine Gal Senator Michelle Mulherin.

The Senator says there is concern locally that when the Postmaster in Ardnaree retires, around Mid March of this year, that the contract for a post office will not be renewed by An Post.

 She asked An Post if a contract will be advertised for a service in Ardnaree, but was told instead that this public consultation process will begin later this month
