Helen Falconer,
Ross, Killala, Co. Mayo and formerly of Buckfastleigh, Devon and London - aged 66, the darling wife and best friend of Derek O’Flaherty and utterly wonderful mother to Jack, Molly, Imogen and Seán, and grandmother to Xian Xian - died peacefully in the presence of her family and the kind staff of Mayo Hospice after a very short illness.
A treasured mother-in-law to Gina, Damian and Hannah and loved deeply and dearly by the Quinn and O’Neill family and the rest of the killala posse. Deeply loved by her extended family including (but not limited to) sisters Lucinda and Emma, brother Richard, nieces Charlotte, Isnaini, Rosie and Alice, and friend Sarah.
A phenomenon of a woman, a brilliant author and poet, a lover of her community (especially her neighbours in Ross) and a friend to many.
“I sing that I am a fat lady on a horse,
and this ride is far from over”
- Helen Falconer
She will be waked at her home in Ross from 2pm on Sunday, 2nd February. A funeral service of remembrance and celebration of Helen's life will be held in St. Patrick’s Church, Killala at 12 noon on Monday, 3rd of February, followed by burial in Killala cemetery.
Helen will be missed by a wide circle of neighbours and friends, but fondly remembered by everyone that knew her. She was a funny, friendly and kind person - truly a force of nature. Rest in peace Helen.
My sympathies to your husband, children and all who loved you.
