Luke FitzMaurice,

Bohernasup, Ballina, Co. Mayo and formerly of Kilkelly, Co. Mayo (June 28th, 2024) - peacefully at The Galway Clinic surrounded by his loving family. 

Pre-deceased by his parents Kathleen and Peter FitzMaurice, his brother Noel (Manchester), brother-in-law Cyril Gibbons and sister-in-law Sally Gibbons.

Cherished husband of Patricia and beloved father of Gillian and Vivienne.

Sadly, missed by his sister Maura Durcan (Curry), his brother-in-law Bernard Gibbons (Belcarra) and sons-in-law Mark O'Brien (Wexford), and Ciarán Clarke (Ballina). 

Treasured Grandad of Hugh and Teegan O’Brien and Heather and Luke Clarke. 

Remaining true to his teaching vocation to the end Luke has donated his body to aid in silent teaching in his Alma Mater, The University of Galway.

Mass of the Resurrection will take place in St. Muredach's Cathedral, Ballina on Friday July 5th at 11.30am.

Sad to learn of the passing of Dear Luke whom I knew as a very young man when he used to visit Brother Noel in the early 1970’s during holiday periods. This being when Noel was Office Manager at Murphy’s Golborne, Office. I was to meet Luke again on the 23rd January 2023 when his Brother Noel R.I.P. was laid to rest at Dunham Lawn Cemetery, Gt. Manchester. This where Luke gave a beautiful graveside tribute in our native language to Dear Noel.
