Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Baby and brother James.
 
He will be sadly missed by his sister Mary (London) and brother P.J. (Foxford), sisters-in-law Patricia and Fran, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
 
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
 
Reposing at Lavelle's Funeral Home, Cashel on Tuesday evening from 5 o'clock until 6.30pm.
 
Removal on Wednesday morning at 11.15am to the Church of the Holy Family, Ballycroy for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in the local cemetery.

We were shocked & saddened to hear of Christy's death. He was a great character, a lovely person, we always enjoyed meeting him. We are thankful now to have met him on a few occasions this Summer, in Achill & Inisbiggle for the festival, we had a laugh, great memories to have now. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially PJ & Mary & his neighbours & friends in his beloved Inisbiggle. Our sincerest sympathy to all of you. He loved the island and set up and ran the festival on the island which was the highlight of the islands calendar. Well Christy, old friend you have left us for a better place. Ever the rebel since we first set foot in Coláiste Èinde in 1976, two young unsure kids from common backgrounds in rural Mayo, a factor that drew us together to become firm friends. When I arrived in Achill Sound in 1994 our friendship was rejuvenated, and. On the many occasions that I visited Inish Bigil, I was always blown away by the warmth and hospitality afforded me all who live there a not least by yourself and your lovely parents Paddy and Baby. I'm grateful now that we got to meet and have a few pints together recently and catch up on old times. It doesn't surprise me that when your time came you left us in a blaze of glory, but you will be sadly missed by all of us your friends, your family and your beloved Inish Bigil. Rest easy Christy. No words can express the sadness and the tragic circumstances of his passing.
Christy was one of a kind, a close friend and will miss him. He was born and died on Innishbiggle, he was very proud of his Island heritage and everyone knows his Trojan work on Festival for more than 30 years. Christy also loved animals, especially his Donkey & Pony Ned and Lucy. He was very interested in sport especially Ireland Rugby team and Mayo GAA.
Two big Mayo games v Dublin come to mind, the Semi Final where Mayo players went over to Hill 16 just prior to throw in, at half time Dubs were ahead. Mayo came out strong in 2nd half and won. The other was Final v Dublin when Lee Keegan scored a great goal. When a person is gone from this life, memories, some small things bring them to life. May you rest in Peace Christy.
