Downhill Road, Ballina, Co. Mayo - on the 25th of July 2023 - after a sudden illness, at St. Vincent’s Hospital Dublin.
Predeceased by his parents, Paddy and Kathleen, brothers Billy and Brendan.
Gerry, beloved husband of Olive. Adored father of Olga, Olwyn, Rodger and Rodney.
Deeply missed by his wife, children, precious grand-children Conor, Poppy, Jack and Caimin, as well as his son-in-law Angus and his daughter-in-law Martha, sisters Mary and Annette, brother Paddy, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. In particular, friends made through the rugby community, which was such a large part of Gerry’s life.
Reposing at McGowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina on Friday evening, the 28th of July, from 7 o’clock until 9 o’clock.
Funeral cortege will leave Mc Gowan’s Funeral Home Ballina on Saturday morning the 29th of July at 11 o’clock for Requiem Mass at 11.30 in St. Muredachs Cathedral, Ballina followed by burial in Leigue Cemetery, Ballina.

Gerry was a great and loyal friend to my father, Frank McElwee, and included him in many club celebrations over the years and referred to him as “a very honoured guest”.
