John Fitzgerald

Ballinlough and formerly of Upper Main Street, Ballyhaunis - peacefully at Portiuncla Hospital.

John will be greatly missed by his sons John and David, grandchildren Sían, Max, Lena and Nils, daughters-in-law Carole and Heike, his sister Kathleen, brother Michael and all his relatives and friends.

He was predeceased in April by Kitty, his wife and life companion of almost 60 years.

May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace

Reposing at Donnellan's Funeral Home, Clare Street, Ballyhaunis on Sunday evening from 4.30 with removal at 6 o’clock to Balinlough Church.

Funeral Mass on Monday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Thinking of John & David, and families, around the loss of Uncle John. It's been almost a year since John and Kitty departed and I look at pictures of Uncle John and I see my father as well. As Johnny often reminded me the Fitzgerald/ Carroll connection went back to the 1930’s . Johnny started primary school in Carrick with Finbar Carroll . Johnny remained a great friend to the Carroll family right up to recent times . When the lights , the power ever went out in Ballinlough, Johnny was only a phone call away and the problem was always fixed , nice and quietly and without fuss . A pleasure to have made his acquaintance and our chats over the year’s will be a pleasant memory for me .
