Gerard (Gerry) McDonnell,

Edgewater, New Jersey and formerly of Rathbawn Drive, Castlebar - Passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of MSK Cancer Centre in Manhattan on 3rd June 2023. 

Predeceased by his father Eugene and infant brother Liam.

Deeply regretted by his loving mother Bridget, brothers Dermot, Eugene (UK), Joseph, Pearse, Niall (Limerick) and Seamus, sisters Mary, Noelle (USA), Edel (Singapore), his girlfriend Kerry (USA), nephews, nieces and all his many friends in both America and Ireland.

Rest in Peace Gerry

Remains reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar on Tuesday (13th June) from 5:30pm until 7pm.

Removal on Wednesday morning at 11am from Coady’s Funeral Home to Castlebar New Cemetery where Gerry will be laid to rest after a short service at the graveside.

I met Gerry while working for Langan Engineering in 1992. His wry sense of humor and Scorpio grit and determination made me a big admirer of Gerry. We reconnected briefly in 2016 when he was deciding to start his own company. He will be missed. My condolences to the McDonnell family.

I knew Gerry from the Castlebar chess club days back in the 1976-86 era and he was always a gentle and kind person, and excellent chess player who dominated the Connaught chess tournaments. I also met him back in Boston around 1989 as we were both civil engineers. He was always courteous, kind and helpful. May he rest in peace.
