Martin Cafferky,

Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin; Woodside, New York and formerly of Aughadeffin, Kilkelly, Co. Mayo - peacefully at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin on April 30th, 2023.

Pre-deceased by his parents John and Ellen and his sister Mary.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his brothers John (Aughadeffin) and Paddy (Craughwell), sisters Kitty Scarry (Moylough) and Evelyn Hatton (Cabinteely), brother-in-law Raymond, sister-in-law Bridie, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May He Rest in Peace.

Martin will repose in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Tuesday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock with removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Urlaur arriving at 8 o’clock.

Mass of the Resurrection on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock with the funeral proceeding to Urlaur New Cemetery.

I knew Marty when he lived in Woodside and kept his Pearson Triton sailboat at the Glen Cove Yacht Club. Marty was an accomplished sailor, and singlehanded his boat as far north as the Maine coast during extended summer cruises. Marty would often sail with us on our annual Columbus Day weekend cruise, rafting up with us in Ziegler’s Cove, Connecticut. He was a good humored friend, and always had a funny story to tell. I think I speak for all of his friends at the Glen Cove Yacht Club in Glen Cove, NY that we will miss him. Fair winds and following seas, Marty,
