Sean Durcan,

Sligo Road, Tubbercurry and formerly of Coolrecuil, Tourlestrane, Co. Sligo and London - on 31st January, 2023 - peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving partner and family.

Predeceased by his parents Bridget and Michael, sister Maura and his mother-in-law Margaret Smith.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his partner Gretta, son Christopher, daughter-in-law Jodi, brothers Michael (Belmullet) and Pat (Galway), sisters Nuala O'Sullivan (Coolrecuil), Angela Kelledy (Dublin) and Breda Moloney (Tourlestrane), brothers-in-law Larry, Frank and Louie, sisters-in-law Monica and Sheila, nieces, nephews, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.

Sean will repose at Coen's Funeral Home, The Square, Tubbercurry (F91 P668) on Friday, 3rd February, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, 4th February, at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Tubbercurry (F91 AF44) with the funeral proceeding to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, for Committal Service at 4 p.m.

House is private please.

I am Australian and drove around the Republic in 1977, stopping in Sligo on a market day for a few pints. I have never forgotten Sean who owned the little pub as well as the adjoining butcher shop. I am adding my recollection of a very amiable Irishman, today being July 10 2024. He would have been about my age at the time of my visit passing through, and I had more Guinness than I had intended, as I was driving a hire car for several months. To this day, I have always recalled his convivial manner and his natural, breezy manner which kept me at the bar in Sligo that market day in 1977. RIP Sean. To his family, I am sure he is missed and this Australian enjoyed the stopover where Sean was keeping both bar and butchershop through an adjoining doorway.
