Colin Leonard Hornsby,

7 Mons Terrace, Breaffy Road, Castlebar and formerly of Burleigh Court, Ellison Street, Castlebar, Carraward, Bohola and Scunthorpe, UK - peacefully in Galway University Hospital on 28th June, 2022.

Predeceased by his parents Hanora (nee Murphy) formerly of Lixnaw, Co. Kerry and Ron Hornsby (Scunthorpe, UK).

Loving brother of David and Patrick (UK). 

He will be sadly missed by his sorrowing brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, his special friend Mary, his relatives and friends.

Colin was a teacher for over 20 years in his local school in Scunthorpe.  He was well respected and admired by his former teaching colleagues and pupils and the many people he came into contact with during his career.

He enjoyed cricket and all kinds of football and he was an avid supporter of his home team Scunthorpe United.

Reposing in  Kilcoyne's Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar on Wednesday 6th July 2022 from 7.00pm to 8.00pm.

Removal from Kilcoyne's the Funeral Home on Thursday 7th July at 10.15am,  arriving at the Church of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph, Bohola  for Funeral Mass at 11.00am, followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium, arriving for Service at 3.00pm.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Collins passing, it was a joy to call into him on a Friday afternoon, he loved to have the chat, and was a great man for the banter, he had such a great sense of humour, and would always leave the house laughing, what a character, it was an absolute pleasure to have known him, he was a pure gentleman. My heartfelt condolences to Colins brothers David and Patrick, his sisters in law, and extended familly, also to mary,, Colin will be sorely missed by all who knew him, thinking of you all at this very sad time
