Tillie Maud Hopkins nee McManamon,
Oceanside, New York and formerly of Doona West, Ballycroy, County Mayo (age 79),
Tillie, affectionately known as Maud to her family and friends, passed away February 19, 2022, with her family by her side.
Tillie, predeceased by her husband Eugenio Patrick Hopkins, brothers and sisters Packie, Ann, Hugh, Tom & Mary.
Tillie is survived by her adoring son John (Claire) and her beloved daughter Mary McCarthy (Andrew), fondly remembered as grandma to Caitlín and Fionn Hopkins, sisters Margaret, Kathleen, Mike, John James & Martin, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends around the world. She was a loving companion to John, who was extremely doting and caring to her for eighteen years.

Reposing at Mc Gowan’s Funeral Home, Ballina on Saturday evening, 5th March from 4.30pm with removal at 5.30pm arriving to The Church of the Holy Family, Ballycroy at 7pm.
Funeral Mass on Sunday at 12 noon followed by burial in Ballycroy Cemetery.

On August 2, 1942, Tillie was born to parents James and Mary McManamon. She was the youngest of ten children from Ireland. She came to America, June 1964 and became a United States citizen, June 2002.
Tillie met her husband, the late Eugenio Patrick Hopkins at an Irish dance. After dating for a few years, they married on June 24, 1972, happily married for twenty-nine years. Together, they worked many jobs while raising a family and lived the American dream of owning a home in Oceanside.
Tillie loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was known for her wonderful Irish soda bread. As a young girl she learned to make the bread from her mother. Tillie had great compassion for the elderly. She affectionately loved animals, especially cats.
