Robert (Bobby) King

Feigh, Lisacul, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon

February 28th, 2021.

Peacefully at Roscommon University Hospital after a short illness.

Pre-deceased by his father Bob, mother Annie, sisters Rose and Annie Mai, brothers Eamon, Martin-Joe and Gerry.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by his brother Kevin, sisters Florrie and Bridie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May He Rest in Peace.

Removal from The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen on Wednesday at 10.45am to Christ the King Church, Lisacul (via Feigh) arriving for Mass of the Resurrection at 11.30am, followed by interment in Lisacul cemetery.

A private funeral will be held.

The King family would ask that over the coming days, everyone who knew him would take some time to light a candle or say a prayer in his memory.

Funeral Mass will be streamed on Sharkey Funeral Directors Facebook Page

His political knowledge was unsurpassed by anybody and his ability to recall candidates and votes, even from individual voting boxes from elections going back years was phenomenal. He travelled every road in west Roscommon and beyond time and time again with different candidates over the years and enjoyed meeting people and engaging in debate over any topic. He was on first name terms with Taoisigh and Ministers from different administrations . His political advice was sought from the highest office. He was a party stalwart and a true gentleman. His ability to sell Super Draw tickets was known through the country. A great organiser who never missed a meeting locally or within the constituency. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
