Sr. Phyl Clancy (Consilio),

Árd Bhríde, Castlebar, Co. Mayo and Convent of Mercy, Swinford, Gurteen, Collooney, Ballymote and Jefferson City, USA; formerly of Clifden, Co. Galway - peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Cuan Chaitríona Nursing Home on 22nd February 2021.

Phyl will be sadly missed by the Sisters of Mercy Western Province and her nieces Mary, Catherine, Grainne and Corla, by her nephews Liam, Fursey and Liam, her nieces and nephews-in-law, her grandnieces, grandnephews and her great grandniece and great grandnephew, her relatives in Clifden, Oughterard and Garden City New York and her many friends.

Funeral Mass in Our Lady Help of Christians, Swinford on Wednesday, 24th February at 12 noon with burial immediately afterwards in the Convent cemetery.

Due to Government advice and guidelines regarding public gatherings and to protect our most vulnerable family members and our friends, Funeral Mass will be for family only.

Sincere Sympathy to The Sisters of Mercy, my Cousins Nieces and Nephews of Phil. I enjoyed my visits to Arus Bhride over the years and our many chats on old times and the people she knew from her youth.She used visit her Uncles Pete and Mathias as a young girl in Glann Oughterard. She would recall her many adventures with my Aunts Bernadette and Bride. Sr Phil was a part of all our Family gatherings over the years. I recall her lovely singing at our Wedding in 1983. She leaves us a lasting memory in History of the Clancy’s book in which she documented the history of the Clancy Family from Limerick to Clare to Galway. Phil was great company and that wonderful smile is my abiding memory of St Concilio as we knew her as children. She was one of the last of the children of the Clancy Family Rathhill, Glann, Oughterard. of the late 19th century. I often look at the floor of the old house which is still in the farmyard and think of how they all succeeded in hard times. We will miss Sr Phil.
