Father Finan, may you rest in peace. John and I are eternally grateful for the kindness you showed in marrying us in Sowerby Bridge 18 years ago in August, when our wedding plans had to change. Your humour and smile helped us through a difficult time and it made the day better and more beautiful. God bless. Teresa and John Plant

Our deepest sympathy Fr Jim, on the death of your brother. When we were newly married and living in the parish of St Mary & St Monica, in West Yorkshire, Fr Joe inspired, instructed and received me into the church. In addition to being a devoted Parish Priest, Fr Joe was very kind and humble, with a good sense of humour. Some years later, at St Williams in Bradford we noticed Fr Joe walking along the aisle before Mass. It was raining heavily outside and Fr Joe spotted a pair of child's mittens, 'steaming' on top of a radiator. Fr Joe paused and quietly turned the mittens over and then carried on walking. Requiescat in pace.
