Mary (Mai) Hynes,

Derrymore, Hollymount, Co. Mayo.

Mary passed away peacefully in the gentle and kind care of the staff of Ballina District Hospital.

Mary will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Mary’s remains will be removed from Gilligan’s Funeral Home, Market Square, Claremorris (via Derrymore) on Saturday to arrive for Funeral Mass at 12 o’clock in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Roundfort, Co. Mayo followed by burial in Roundfort Old Cemetery.

Mass will be live streamed on Roundfort, Robeen, Carras Facebook page.

Due to current Government best practice guidelines, the funeral is for family members only, (maximum of 10 people only in the church).

Please observe social distancing at all times will the funeral cortege is on its route.

The family appreciate your support and understanding at this time.

Sincere sympathy on the death of Mai, she was a living saint, we used to pass her and her mothers house on the way to the bog every summer, and would always see Mai out tending to her lovely garden or looking at her well fed cattle, my father would have known them well over all the years, in my teenage years i used to look on in awe at Mai arriving for mass every morning come rain hail or snow, and as someone who used to hate that gradual climb from Nally's to Churchquarter graveyard even in Summer after a hard day in the bog I don't know how she did it in the howling winds and rain of Winter, may her gentle soul rest in peace.
