Maureen Naughton nee Finnegan,

Grange, Ballinlough - peacefully at Adare and District Nursing Home, Adare, Co. Limerick on 21/01/2021.

Predeceased by her husband Patrick and sons Tommy and baby John.

Deeply regretted by her sons Michael and PJ and her daughter Pauline, son-in-law, grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

RIP

Funeral will arrive to St. Patrick's Church, Granlahan on Saturday morning for Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock will burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Due to current government and hse guidelines, funeral mass is for family members only.

Your mother was a lovely woman, hard working, kind, and like many mothers, underappreciate d. I only met her a few times in my ife, the first being a memorable, week long Easter visit to Grange in 1974, a few weeks before I returned to the United States, when I was 23 years old, having been brought to England with my family in 1966. No matter how late the evening of music making and story telling went on in Grange, there would Maureen, up before the crack of dawn, tending the animals on the farm, feeding the chickens, fetching fresh eggs, and making fresh soda bread in a black pot on the hearth. I came down early and after washing my face in the tank and having a smoke, I came into the kitchen and your Mum was doing all these things. I asked if I could make her a cup of tea, and she stopped working for a moment, and her large, young eyes focused on me and she said that nobody had ever offered to make her a cup of tea before. She reminded me of that when she came for Jim’s funeral. RIP.
