Paddy Conroy, Barrack Street, Belmullet, Co. Mayo and formerly of Aughleam, Blacksod

at the Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar on 15th January 2020.

Predeceased by his parents Pat and Mai Conroy, Aughleam, Blacksod.

Beloved husband of Mary (née McDonnell).

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, sons Seán and Padraic, daughter Eilís (London), brother Noel (Dublin), sisters Maureen (Ballina) and Patricia (Aughleam, Blacksod), his cherished grandchildren – Maria, Patrick, Laura, James, Erris, Jack, Maggie and Lindsay, daughters in law Marian and Fiona, son in law Stephen, brother in law Kevin, sister in law Mary, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, former colleagues of St. Brendans College, Belmullet and his many, many friends.

Funeral will depart from McDonnell's Funeral Home, Belmullet on Sunday morning at 12.30 to arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Belmullet for Funeral Mass at 1 o’clock followed by burial in Emlybeg Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired to irelandthanksyou.ie website in support of our Covid-19 Frontline Workers and the Staff of Belmullet Community Hospital. 

In keeping with current Government advice and H.S.E. guidelines regarding public gatherings, Paddy’s funeral will be private for immediate family only. For those who would like to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passes through the town and enroute to the church, please stand in a socially distanced manner on the streets, roadsides, outside the church and cemetery ensuring public health and safety is being upheld to the highest standard. The funeral will proceed after Funeral Mass to Paddy’s native home in Aughleam and continue to Blacksod and Faulmore with funeral arriving at Emlybeg Cemetery at 3 O’Clock approximately. The Conroy family appreciate your understanding at this difficult time.

Memorial Mass for the soul of Paddy will be held at a later date. For those who cannot attend due to restrictions, please leave a personal message for the family on the condolence form on this webpage or on the condolences section on RIP.ie.

Paddy was first and foremost a teacher, who was deeply committed to his student and his school. He was always willing to defend and assist his own, be that helping a former student when in they required assistance or entering into a discussion with a referee during a football match who had given a poor decision against the St Brendans.

It was with great sadness we learned of his passing. Belmullet will not be the same without him. Paddy simply was St. Brendan's College and you could not imagine one existing without the other.
