Eamonn McGowan,

Quignashee, Ballina - peacefully at the North West Hospice, Sligo.

Funeral cortege will leave his residence on Sunday at 12 noon to arrive at St. Muredach’s Cathedral for Requiem Mass at 12.30pm with burial afterwards in Leigue Cemetery.

Family flowers only. Donations if desired to The North West Hospice, Sligo c/o McGowan's Funeral Directors.

Due to current Government and HSE guidelines Eamonn’s Funeral Mass will be private to family and close friends only.

The family would like to thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation at this very difficult time.

Joanne (below) spoke well for many of us in Omaha, Nebraska USA. Going back to meet and get to know the family in Ireland was an incredible experience. We were fortunate to go back several times and each visit was so memorable. We are grateful for the welcome we received from our cousins overseas. Loved walking around the farm and learning about it. Of course, we would all practically genuflect in front of the "shed." It was revered by all of us as the home our ancestors came from and it was fun to share that with you as it was just the "shed" to you. I remember Eamonn and Michael as young men coming to America and (I think) staying with Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathleen for a bit. We are so grateful we got to know him later as we grew up. We remember him fondly with love. God bless Eamonn.

Our love and prayers are with our cousins in Ballina. We knew that Eamonn was ill but did not realize he had passed in June. We are so sorry and will miss him. We have so enjoyed our visits to Quignashee over the years to visit our cousins and will hold on to those memories forever. Many of our cousins knew Eamonn when he was a young man with Michael and traveled to Omaha, Nebraska. I was younger and did not get to meet the family until our Mother, Mary Jane McGowan Edney, took us to Ireland to see the family 25 years ago. We were met with incredible hospitality, history and love. Our prayers are with you. With much love, Joanne and David and all of your cousins in America.
